Scholarship

Idaho Scenic Images is pleased to announce the presentation of a yearly educational scholarship to one Idaho high school senior or collage undergraduate who demonstrates a passion for the outdoors and shows promise in the field of fine art landscape photography.

 

The qualifying high school senior or college applicant will be chosen based on 5 submitted photos and a short essay.

 

The Award: From $200-500, depending on merit

One winner per calendar year

Opening Date: January 1st, 2023

Closing Date: April 30th, 2023

Decision by May 31st, 2023


Requirements: 

Age~ 16-25 at time of application

Grade~ High school senior graduating in 2023 or College undergraduate

GPA: 3.0

Idaho residency, US  citizenship

Future Education~Vocational Program or College

 

Judging and rules:

Based on the following 100 point criteria:

 

Ability to follow application instructions (5 points)

Online application (5 points)

Essay (15 points)

Photographs (75 points)


Each photograph will be judged on the following:

Subject matter (3 points)

Composition (5 points)

Lighting (3 points)

Processing (2 points)

Title and Captioning (2 points)

 


About captioning- Provide an art title and a caption using AP(Associated Press) style for example: "Forest Aglow"

Write a short essay (no more than 1/2 page, typewritten and single-spaced), detailing what landscape photography means to you. Send as a PDF attached to your photo submission.


Send 5 landscape photographs (taken by you alone) as jpg files, sized at 900 pixels on the long edge (watermarks encouraged) to: idahoscenics@gmail.com. File names should include your last name and be numbered 1-5. (example: _JohnSmith_1.jpg)
Include corresponding captions numbered 1-5 in the email.

All information is to be submitted online for 2023.

You retain all copyright to your photos. Winning images will only be used for scholarship judging purposes.
All applications and images must be received by April 30th of each year.
Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
